Ranking News has refined the original Top 20 Luxury Yacht Builders 2026 category into two separate rankings:
The original ranking reviewed a broad universe that included both large custom superyacht shipyards and internationally established production or semi-custom luxury yacht manufacturers.
Following additional editorial review and feedback from industry participants, Ranking News concluded that these firms operate within two related but distinct competitive markets.
Custom superyacht shipyards are primarily evaluated on factors such as bespoke engineering, vessel complexity, owner-specific construction, large-yacht infrastructure, and the ability to deliver one-off projects.
Luxury production and semi-custom yacht builders are more appropriately evaluated on factors including model-range strength, manufacturing capability, international distribution, brand recognition, personalization within established platforms, and owner-market relevance.
Separating the categories allows firms to be assessed against more comparable peers and produces a clearer representation of the global yacht-building market.
The refinement was made through the independent editorial review process. It was not connected to licensing, advertising, sponsorship, or commercial participation.
